Meetings

Meetings are usually held the second Sunday of the month, from noon to 3 PM at the Page Belting Building at Horseshoe Pond. Some months have the meetings moved to alternate dates so as to not conflict with a major holiday, such as Mothers' Day. You can download and print the meeting schedule, but be sure check back here for updates. Directions to our meeting place are below our schedule.

October 2011 October 16, 2011 - Debra Saucier of The Bead and Wire Shop will give a Swarovski Trend Presentation with goody bags as well as a demonstration of Crystal Clay.

There will be Kits, Clay, Bezels & Swarovski Chatons available for purchase so that members can create a piece as Debra demonstrates.

November 20, 2011- Peg Shaffer - Wireworking with Copper - Make Your Own Design Copper Links

Based on Lillian Chen's technique, you will learn how to make design links using copper wire. Get this technique practiced with copper at the BSNH meeting, and then go on your own using silver wire to design a beautiful sterling silver necklace!

December 11, 2011 - Holiday Party - (Members Only)

Includes a luncheon buffet and Yankee Swap at The Red Blazer, 72 Manchester St, Concord, NH 10:30 AM - 2:00 PM. Bring a bead related gift (approximately $10) if you want to participate in the Yankee Swap.

Three of our members will show and tell about various aspects of Finishing and Findings. The group will divide into three segments and will have a close up opportunity at each demonstration table.

Gail Devoid - Clasp demo: Forging your own clasps Enhance your designs by learning to make your own clasps. This session will cover how to make forged clasps using very basic tools, sterling silver wire, and some beads. Various tools used will be on hand and I will have a handout with instructions.

Bev Taylor - Earring Wires Enhance your erring designs by learning to make your own findings. This session will cover how to make an earring wire and stud using very basic tools. Various tools I use will be displayed and a handout with tips and techniques will be available.

Jo Tong - Finishing Techniques We'll explore some findings used to professionally finish and strengthen beaded bracelets and necklaces made with thread and wire. I will discuss and demonstrate findings such as crimps, crimp covers, bead caps, wire guards, and French wire. Beaded toggles will also be explained and examples will be available to help you understand the end result.

Members are welcome to bring samples of finishing and findings that they use and/or UFOs for help with determining what finding is appropriate.

February 12, 2012 - Panel Discussion - Shopping Wisely for Beads - Gail Devoid of Need For Beads, Inc. (http://www.tarnhelm.com/NeedForBeads/), Jo Tong, of New England Beads (http://www.nebeads.com), Judy Bush, of BeadBush Studio (http://beadbush.com/), and Judy Deshaies from The Bead Store and More, (http://www.thebeadstoreandmore.com/) will make up the panel. After we hear their advice on a range of questions related to the topic, we will open the discussion up to the members for more questions and comments.

March 2012 March 11, 2012 - Bead Swap - Sure to be a fun time for All- Here is a chance to swap some of those beads you have that you aren't going to use for something different. Bring beads, findings, etc., packaged in clear baggies. Each baggie should have an approximate value of $5.00. Bring as many baggies as you'd like and for every baggie you bring, you will take a baggie home with you! Any questions, please email Sandy at slsherman17@aol.com.

- Directions to meetings:

FROM Downtown (North Main Street) Concord when heading NORTH


Take a right onto Rt. 393 going east
Take the FIRST RIGHT onto S. Commercial St. at the light.
At the end of the hill, at the stop sign, bear LEFT onto Constitution St.
At stop sign, TURN LEFT, then take the 2nd LEFT into the Parking lot

From Rt. 393 going west towards North Main St. in Concord

Take last right onto N. Commercial St. before lights at the end of the highway, immediately after bridge
At stop sign, take a RIGHT
Take FIRST RIGHT into the Parking lot

From RT. 93 (North OR South)

Take EXIT 15 W –
Take the FIRST RIGHT onto N. Commercial St. – At the bottom of the hill TURN RIGHT
Then 1st RIGHT into the parking area.

Parking

Park in the WEST lot ONLY. This is the lot that faces the main entrance with the flag pole in front. The entrance to the meeting room is around the corner on the SOUTH side of the building.

- Dues

The membership year runs from October through September.  Dues are $30 per year, but continuing members who renew prior to October 1 pay only $25 for the coming year. 

Dues paid by new members during the year are prorated according to the following schedule:
